Looks like I have some diagrams for a 83 Jetta.  Not sure if they are close, could be similar.  Post what areas you are working on?  Engine Bay, Fuse Block, Dash?

Your pics dont work.

not sure why my photos did not popup. I don't think they are the same i also have a 82 caddy and a 83 jetta not the same as my 81 Jetta they are all 1.6 D.

the two green wires are on the left side of the bay by the alternator. i think one went to the top prong on the sensor that goes to the upper hose near block maybe the other to the a/c. dont remember had to walk away from working on it about a month

Your photo links go to your OneDrive page with the photos on it, not to the actual photo. The forum software isn't clever enough to understand what it is supposed to do in that scenario.

This page might help:

Now, on to your issue... That sensor looks quite strange and not at all like anything VW factory. Any chance the car has or maybe previously had a veggie oil system in it? Or maybe something like aftermarket aircon?

All that stuff looks like A/C to me.

My Dasher is buried under too many covers to check, but IIRC a/c always has a coolant temp cutoff at the flange.
