WTB: 1.6 diesel shortblock in the PNW
« on: February 08, 2017, 04:27:34 pm »
I need to rebuild the engine in my 83 GL TD, but as the car is my daily driver I can't take it down for long enough to do a proper rebuild.  I'd like to find a rebuildable shortblock, it doesn't need to be anything special but I'd rather not have to deal with a spun bearing requiring the crank to be turned, or massively damaged bores requiring sleeving, etc.  Broken timing belt is generally ok, but I'd like to check it over to make sure there isn't a damaged bore or bent rod.  Looking to spend around $150, I can pick it up anywhere from the coast to Boise.  I may be interested in a rebuilt engine with very low miles but I don't have a whole lot of budget for that.

Good luck with that!  I have been seeing Craigslist with engines lately.  Folks looking to clean a garage or get money for new projects for spring.  Keep looking.  The block I have is a 1.5 sorry.

I have an NA core from a 1984,.. 12mm headbolts.
You would need to bore it. The crank has some rust on it but I can probably find a cleaner crank.
