Just purchased this clean mk2
« on: February 15, 2016, 12:17:30 am »
Picked this up the other day.  Very clean engine is fine but injection pump needs sorted or worked on.  110k  I was thinking of sending it to Giles?

Fixed your image link. There's an option on Flickr labelled "bbcode" in their image sharing area which spits out proper links for most forum sites.

What's up with the injection pump? 110k is pretty low mileage... Giles can definitely make you an awesome pump, but if it's just a leak or something you might be able to do it yourself.

Fine specimen! 85/86?

I wish my paint were in that good condition.

You have a dealer's licence? The boneyards by me won't let individuals buy whole cars. :-(

Well the seller stated his buddy rebuilt the pump but i noticed the throttle lever springs are not installed and i would be amazed if the pump timing is even right.  I will try to get it running as-is but i would like a good starting point first.

OK - no sense sending it in for a rebuild for that. Timing has to be set on the car either way.

Can you post a picture of the accelerator springs?

That's my favorite color.
Looks like you are getting a used Giles pump on the vortex.
I'd love to see how it runs with a Giles pump on it.

There are no springs on the throttle shaft right now.  I have a core pump here that is complete i could post a picture of.

giles pump sold before i could get.
