Hi, Has anyone here completed their rebuild with ceramic themal barrier coated prechambers? What results have been experienced if any? Whould this stop the cups cracking?
Someone, Malone I believe, coated his prechamber inserts. I plan to coat not only my inserts but also the bowl in the cylinder head, as apparently doing just the inserts doesn't make much if any difference.
Hi, I meant the whole prechamber not just the cup. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that  .
Yeah I'm not aware of anyone that's done the whole prechamber, insert and bowl yet. Wanna be the first?
I'm game for coating it. How much would it cost?

I am about to rebuild me 1.6ltd and want to do some stuff to it in the rebuild. I was also thinking about couting the exhaust ports to prevent preturbine egt from being absorbed by the block.

Somebody was quoted $300 to do the prechambers, exhaust ports, exhaust valve faces, and piston tops. So if you're just doing the prechambers, maybe $100 would be my guess.

$300 seems quite reasonable. I wonder how coating all of that would affect cold starts?
the barrier would improve cold starts... the heat from the glow plugs would be staying in the chamber instead of being absorbed by the metal..
same as it stays in the exhaust gas when you thermo barrier the headers
improving exhaust gas flow.. K
