1.6TD Build Thread for the BADHARE

Hello Gents.

Havent been on this forum in quite a while now. I've been simply taking care of maintenance on my Daily driven 84 Rabbit, dubbed BADHARE for the past year while i've been rebuilding a 91 Cabriolet Etienne Aigner edition as a surprise gift for my girlfriend.

The rabbits a 1 owner 1.6D NA 4 door. She needs some love, but I cant kill this car and love it.

She does however, need alot more power before i'll be truly happy with it. Been keeping my eye out for an AAZ since i got the car, but their so hard to find........and they are so expensive that its really out of my realm.

I recently found a 1.6TD that i am pretty much definitelly going to be picking up at this point. Its only got about 100k. Allegidly has a recently rebuilt pump. Everything is there, except for the turbo.

My plans are as follows, I would like some input on how to build this thing. Time isnt an issue. my NA runs amazing so I can build this on the side for a while to my liking.

- ALOT of power.
- Full, and complete reliability. Cant be dealing with having this car down. I like to take long road trips, and rely on this old girl to get me to
   work and everywhere else on a daily basis.
- REAL nice amounts of acceleration ( Im an ex owner of classic muscle and some big power cars, i like the seat of your pants feeling ).
- Top end pull for highway driving and acceleration.
- ALL of this, to be possible with an air conditioned setup. Its my daily, and the 4 windows only get me so far when its 100 out and 95%
  humidity. Car doesnt currently have AC nor does the engine i'll be getting.

How plausible is this combination of factors?
How expensive will it be to accomplish all of this?

Appreciate any and all help!!! FYI, im new to the IDEA of turbo's. I need a replacement for the lack of displacement!

if you look at the HP/TQ ratings on 1.6TD you will be dissapointed... But if you are daily driving a 1.6NA then, anything is a step up and you will love (and feel) every bit of power you add. But I wouldn't ever compare a VW diesel to a gas guzzling hotrod. I like my mpg and I get a smile on my face when I feel the turbo kick in and hear that sweet sweet whine. If you wanna drop 4-6k into a motor, then I'm sure you could get some decent numbers, I've seen some whicked builds. But why try to be something youre not?  Unless you are hell bent on making some serious numbers with a 40 year old design, just keep it mild.
