Replacing my 1.6td with an aaz with a different turbo
« on: August 01, 2015, 01:56:14 am »
So the engine in my 89 Wolfsburg basically bit the dust the other day.
I've tracked down an aaz engine that comes with a t25 turbo that I don't believe is installed. So a few questions have arisen.
It's a really easy swap from what I've heard, anything I should look out for ?
And what about this turbo ? where am I to find a manifold ?
The engine is $500, the mileage on it is unknown I believe.
Sorry if I broke any rules by posting here,
I'm still noob status. Thanks all

Yep it's almost a direct swap. The alternator wiring connection will be different, I believe the AC lines are different too. Other than that it's pretty much plug and play.

If you have the AAZ out then deal with the crank nose before you even think of installing it. They have a nasty tendency to throw their crank pulley which tosses the timing belt and then garbages the engine.
