2012 vw golf 2.0 tdi
« on: July 08, 2015, 10:28:23 pm »
I've bought my first golf tdi, it's also my first diesel as well. I want to be able to hear the turbo better and have a exhaust added to make it deeper.  It's completely stock right now, does anyone have any suggestions for BOV's  or anything that will make the turbo sound a little louder?

No BOV and no muffler. Use 2.25 or 2.5" all the way back and you will hear it spool and be a little lower.

Which will make it sound deeper? 2.25 or 2.5

The bigger the pipe the deeper it will sound.

Okay, how does exhaust help with the turbo sound?

It is just like a tuba vs a flute. Length and diameter play a huge roll in how something sounds

Turbo noise is pretty high frequency which means it gets soaked up by a muffler quite easily.
