T4 Eurovan 1.9 AAZ swap Turbo suggestions
« on: April 26, 2015, 10:12:31 am »
we are swapping a 1.9 AAZ into a T4 cargo van, ordered some parts from europe to make it bolt up properly and over all should be a pretty fun and not to complicated swap, I hope to have pictures for posted soon i will make a thread of some of the progress

just thinking of turbo options,  as for injection pump we will be running stock for now with some adjustments and maybe a Giles super pump in the future. we have a few turbos laying around to choose from, the donor car came fitted with the K03 which i figure is not the best choice for this vehicle, also we have a K14, T3, and i dont figure this is much good but we also have a GT-15 from a 1Z TDI!

just interested in hearing some feedback on what might be a good choice to start with on this build

   thanks alot

I would go for the k14.  The gt-15 is basically the same as the k03 and the t3 would be too laggy.  If you were to buy a turbo for it I would think about using a vnt turbo.  A gt 1749va from a b5 passat would be ideal for a heavier vehicle.  Have you thought about running an intercooler on it?  Do you have a list of the parts you ordered from Europe?  I might be doing a similar project soon using an AHU in a Eurovan.
Toyota truck 4x4 with Mtdi, M-vnt gt1749va, 11mm pump, fmic, smog .216 nozzles.  Sold!
Working on 1993 4runner mtdi, gtb1756vk, 11mm pump, smog .216 nozzles, custom 1" thick adaptor plate, pd150 intake manifold.

Which k14 do you have? If it is from an ECO diesel 1.6 I would go with nothing that you have. If you can make a 2.5" downpipe and rebuild the T3 with a 360 bearing I would use that. Otherwise I would get a 200wg holeset or Mitsubishi that is similar sized T16 or T18 IIRC. Especially if you are going to get a beefier pump in the future.
