AHU disassembly q?

i have to remove the crank in my other ahu jetta; im under the impression this is more difficult than earlier engines; any advice/steps to do this?

AHU is no different than an AAZ or 1.6.  Things don't change until the ALH, at which point the entire engine was redesigned from scratch (new block).

I'm assuming the engine is still in the car?

Main and rod bolts are single-use.

motor is in car; i have to separate trans from engine, undo clutch, and see where im at; have another crank, new rod/main tty, need brearings, and a few other things, are the main or rod bearings the same as a 1.6?

for as much as you try to help people here you would think you wouldn't need to learn to use a search function. Or at least go to a parts site, look up both part #s and see for yourself. I also think if you searched the faq you could find an answer as well.

FWIW most all the vw 8v and the 16v can use the same rod and mains. The TDI are wider iirc.

Don't waste your time trying to get the crank out in the car, just pull the motor. After all by the time you get the transaxle off you are almost there.
