AAZ O2A/O2J Suggestions
« on: March 07, 2015, 06:25:54 pm »
I have a 95 B4 AAZ. Fresh engine, holset he200wg, giles pump, blah blah blah.....

The CHA trans is geared way too low.

I'm wondering what others are using for a cable shift trans.

I have a CTN trans but I'm thinking that's way too tall.

I put a VR6 R&P into my CHA trans. I'm finding that cruising around at 50 - 60 is a high reving 3rd or bogged down 4th. I also don't shift into 5th till 120.

I'm thinking a Rado g60 trans is a happy medium with the 3.6 R&P.

An ALH trans is essentially what I have now. Aside from the .717 5th.

MTDI or TD? The idi doesn't Rev as high as the TDI head does.

M-TDI but the rev range would make an IDI quite happy.

The CTN has the lowest numerical gearing of any transmission in the family. Very diesel friendly and great for the highway. Not the best for drag racing.

Giles ran a CTN on his AAZ with a k14 and also with a T3. It did fine. I drive closer to 100 on the highways and was usually in 4th when I borrowed his car but Giles made better use of 5th.

No, seriously. Its not a big change, but will it make the 4-5 shift too wide?
