1981 Caddy AAZ swap
« on: February 17, 2015, 01:39:11 pm »
Ok I will try to keep this short ,
I have a 1981 Caddy MK1 with a 1.6 NA 4 spd , I am swapping in a 1996 1.9 AAZ TD with 5 spd trans .
My question is the pass side mount on the 1.6 , looks like it will swap to the 1.9 , but it is also the injection pump mount . Is it ok to swap the mount over or is there another engine mount that I should be using ?
Will it locate the  1.9 pump in the same location ? the 1.9 being a taller engine ?
Will it cause timing belt issue's ?
will it be hard to set the timing after ?
Thanks

use the aaz pump bracket, cut the injection pump part of the motor mount off, that or use a gas rabbit motor mount, check my thread in the user ride wall.

I am in pennsylvania, USA.  timing belt cover will work, but the top piece will need to be cut to fit around the mk1 mount.  the lower timing belt cover works fine if you are using aaz accesories, if you are using mk1 accessories it will need to be trimmed so that the v belt doesn't rub on it
