Hey guys. I noticed my gauges not working, so I ripped out my gauge cluster and found that the circuit board is all corroded. It's falling apart and in some areas the connection has been severed. Is there a good way to fix it or a replacement part? I was thinking maybe I could use the circuitry off a gasser vw?
I can post a pic if it help!
Thanks guys!
I've been doing a lot of reading and it looks like the only "solution" is to use the the repair kit used for rear window heater elements. I'm not electrical engineer but with the technology we have available is there a better way? Maybe I can make a whole new replacement. It seems a lot of people have issues with the stupid Mylar circuit board.
I hope I can come up with a real solution so that others can benefit from it.
If you don't have a tach I think the gas one us the same like you mentioned.
I'm gonna hit the junk yard tomorrow to see if I can find replacent. I think I'm going to try and come up with an aftermarket solution that others can use.
I'm thinking maybe a small pcv board then have ribbon cable to make the connections.
Or I don't know. Still thinking and looking up other solutions.
I wonder what kind of car he has.

I'm working on a 1981 vw rabbit diesel.

Still can't find the Mylar circuit board. At least one in good condition.

Get the p/n off the Mylar flex circuit. I have about 12 clusters here and good chance I have one.
