89 gti to 1.6td
« on: January 24, 2015, 08:10:00 pm »
This is my work in progress 1.6 td gti intercooled, arp studs ko3 needing upgraded, hopefully he200wg , big oil cooler , 2.5 straight exhaust, sending giles a true td pump so he can work his magic. Switching it with my na pump..... Working towards 160 to 180 hp.... Gotta say fun little car now... Can't wait til I get done.... Still needing a few parts like t25 manifold to bolt up he200wg. And proper intake instead of the tdi one I have on now.... And in process of porting a new 1.6td head... Any Suggestions incouraged

nice build!  when you get a 1.6 intake, you should try and have it modefied like this  or since you are going with a new turbo, mount it so that you can fit a gas intake manifold, maybe even have a gas intake sent out to scientific rabbit for porting, only 125 dollars for stage 1

81 Rabbit:TDI-M ported head, Frank06 cam, PD intake, hybrid T3 turbo, Renault intercooler, Syl20 11mm pump, light weight fw, and yellow California Clutch clutch kit

It looks very simple to make, just need to cut a stock intake down, get some aluminum supplies, and tig it all together.

Started tearing into engine and found some stuff I wasn't happy with such as bearings and piston rings so decided to re do everything while I was that far into it, things I am doing: sent pump to giles for modification, sent pistons to be ceramic coated and dry lube on skirts(bonehead performance) polished crank, ported new head, sent k24 turbo to xsboost for new compressor and 360* bearing, intercooled , new oil pump, Windage tray(victor reins),  new bearings rod and non integrated main bearings(kolbenschmidt and glyco), new goetz rings, all new seals and gaskets(elring) new intermediate bearing(front) , all new hardware: arp rod bolts, have arp head studs, new main bolts SHCS... New oil feed and return lines, new boost gauge and egt( auto meter) new clutch(luk) running gti flywheel and clutch with big input shaft, 2.5 straight exhaust, k&n air filter, manual boost controller( going I dial to 20psi) ..... New wrist pin bushings, and I'm probably missing a few things haha.... Now the process of putting all back together

Sounds like a solid build! Make sure you post pictures as you get it together!

Ya it's getting there think I have all my parts I need.... Now the want list starts haha.... One thing  I would really want to find is the g60 valve cover or a Morosso one .... Seen some crazy prices.... I'm just not a big fan of the stamped steel.... I should get the block and rods out of machine shop tomorrow... Then it's go time... It's hard looking at a bench full of parts and the block is in machine shop......wtf
