Just showing off - Package received from Sweden.
« on: January 23, 2015, 09:52:58 am »
OK - I'm just too excited not to share a pic or two.

Yesterday, I received an injection pump from Dieselmeken AB.  This is for my 1.5L "Franken" engine.  The new pump will support up to 170cc's of fuel and spin to 6,000 rpm.  11mm elements, 2.8mm camplate.

Oh, yeah  - the package also included some Swedish candies and "Performance by Dieselmeken" decals.  The candy is to enjoy while working on the truck, and the decals will go on before the next LSR attempt.

Steve

Here's a Youtube video Goran sent about adjustments and tuning of the pump!  Service with a smile.

Cool. I like how he threw in some candy lol. How does his pumps compare to giles? What was the cost of the rebuild?

Nice package.   ;D

What was the cost of the rebuild?

Curious as well...  I'm eventually going to need a new pump, once I increase the flow of my head, and the fuel pump becomes the limiting factor.

He has awesome YouTube vids but at didn't see many Bosch VW pumps.   I'm sure he knows the same tricks as Giles.

There's not too many "tricks" per se - it's more about the advance rate, the choice of cam plate, pump head, LDA pin, etc.  Oh and being able to calibrate everything properly...  If you actually understand the pump you can make it do whatever you want.  Most shops just say "Well this pump is supposed to have a part number #12456 so that's what we're using", guys like Goran and Giles have played with enough of these that they can make them sing...

2.8mm cam plate is awesome.  My Rover cam plate in my pump is only 1.45mm so you've got almost double the lift that I have with the same size pump head... That's going to have one rattly idle, the injection duration is going to be uber short!  Should help keep EGTs reasonable...

In terms of pricing - it's best to contact Goran directly.  For both pumps he's done for me, he supplied the core from Sweden, which was cheaper than sending a pump to him to have reworked.

Goran does his own boost pins (as does Giles if I understand properly).  It's the right combination of parts, and the knowledge of how to set up a pump for a particular application that sets guys of that level apart from the basic rebuilders.

The new pump is capable of delivering up to 170cc's of fuel (per 1,000 revolutions), and will spin to 6,000 rpm.

My "old" pump maxxed out at 90cc's of fuel.

I now have plenty of potential fueling for more power in the future!

Steve.

you know jetmugg; i was going to say to you; as the builds threads you have i have to research and are multipule pages. i can get to about 120mph in my ahu TDI, so i dont see a record of (iirc) 135mph or so being a problem to break. in the TDI category.
iirc you werent sure you could get the small liter category record, and wham you busted it with safflower at that, haha

Tuning your pump while taking a video, then sweetening the deal as well - Impressive service!

I wonder what it costs. I love gummy bears, I guess I will have to see and talk to him about sending me some.

why 2.8mm lift?
stock 1.9td is 3.2mm right?
was it  a high rpm issue?

I don't have any idea what a stock 1.9TD has for a camplate.

I know that Goran had played around with a 12mm build, but the fuel flow tapered off at higher rpms, so he switched to this 11 mm, 2.8 lift setup.

Regarding the candy - I had previously sent a package to Goran containing "Swedish Fish" candies from the US.  I think he was just reciprocating and having some fun.

You mentioned the pump Is good for 6000rpm.  I'm just curious how well the rest of the motor would hold up at those rpm?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think stock the redline is 5200 on a 1.5l. I'm sure this modified engine would be happy to do 6000.

What RPM do you get max fuel? 2400?
