I am replacing the engine in my VW Transporter (Vanagon) with a VW 1.9 N/A engine, engine code IY
The injection pump wiring is my first problem, should be a photo below, anybody know what cable does what? apart from the cables shown there is one other, conected to a lever on the inside on the pump/engine

th one on the top is mounted in the top of the plunger ..so i believe that is the fuel shut off..you may "MAY" be able to take it off and put a regular shutoff solnoid there..the bottom one im not sure of .hard to tell if it goes under the pump or what from the pic..maybe it reads timing of the timing advance piston?...

Number 4 is timing advance in relation to Nox emmisions. The one at the rear, 3, is the cold start advance, the black box, 2, thats the immobiliser, you can drill off the rivets inside and remove it to reveal a standard shut-up selonoid. No 1 is an odd device. I'll need to check my book again for the exact description of it, but off the top of my head its called the max rpm return selonoid. The only thing I can think of for it, its a selonoid that opens gradually or only at high revs, thus keeping the fuel under pressure in the pump for the leak off operation. The AAZ pump doesnt have this device at all. I've been told that in an AAZ pump, the return banjo near the LDA device, for fuel return is about 70 psi when at full load. Was told this by the guy who rebuilt mine. I thought the small mesh filter he used was incorrect and would not allow the fuel out of the pump for return. He said it would be sitting at 70 psi and would make its way out just fine. This might be the 1Y's way of holding high pressure, it might not have that very small filter. Take the banjo bolt out and energise the selonoid to see what way it works and make a decision. By the way, the older 1Y's dont have this device, just the same return banjo assey as the older N/A's.
So your car wont be able to make use of these devices due to lacking the rest of the harness at the rear of the head. The NOx device you can energise all the time, the immobiliser you can get round very simply but the cold start advance and the other device, you'll have no control over. You could always try and fit the manual pull advance to the rear, for the top device, leave it connected, with an on / off switch from the battery to it, when you get it running, switch it on / off to see what effect it has. Its your best way to go around it.

Dont suppose any ones got a wiring diagram for this type or simular type of pump??

ive done the engine swap 7 months back, i still got it running. its not a good move.
