Coolant temperature sensor wiring
« on: November 23, 2014, 04:04:24 pm »
I installed low mileage motor in to my 1990 Jetta after breaking a rod in the original motor.  Everything is hooked up with exception of one set of wires.  This connects to the coolant outlet neck on the back of the head (where the heater hose come off of the head)  I cannot remember where this wire goes/comes from and cannot seem to locate any connectors that are correct to connect here.  I have a bundle of un needed wires that were from the deleted ac system and one connector hidden under the coolant overflow bottle.  I included some pictures to show what I am talking about.  Is there a wire I am missing between the empty connector and the sensor mounted in the neck?  Help please.  Itching to hear and smell the sweet sound of a diesel motor once again.

In addition to the coolant temp sensor for the gauge and sender for the glow plugs and the fan switch, I believe the later IDI diesels had a coolant switch which cut power to the air conditioner compressor clutch if the engine began to overheat, kind of a dumdum thing and not really necessary, I'm not sure but it could be for that.

Thanks.  Could anyone pop their hood and take a look or snap a pic of theirs?

90-97 land cruisers have that.

So many blown hg threads on ih8mud start with "i was towing on a long uphill stretch on the hottest day of the year when the radiator tank just exploded! Oh and the AC shut off about an hour before that but that's probably a separate issue."
