My MKIV jetta vs Acura (R)SX
« on: November 13, 2014, 11:12:21 am »
Typical "fast and furious changed my life" guy was on the off ramp ahead of me. I sped up to not get in the way of a truck to get on the same off ramp. I see the  big VTEC stickers in front of the rear tires with the big wing and noticed when following he had gold aftermarket looking rear control arms right behind the 5" fart can, RICE. He sped up when I did so I jokingly thought I would entertain the idea and I gave it more pedal. To my surprise I had to let off as I would have run him over. I let off and stayed a set distance right behind him. He looked pissed as he was letting off trying to get me to race him. I finally gave him a smoke show the 3rd time he pulled up beside me. I downshifted to 4th and took it to 5th, let off and set the cruise right at the speed limit. I pulled a good car length on him and covered him in soot. Never would have thought it in the MKIV, wish I would have had the mark 2 as it looks like more of a grocery getter than my MKIV and I would have left him much further behind.

EDITED TO RSX

That's one of the things I love about Jezebel... Nobody expects a 20 year old Mk3 to leave them in the dust!!

Wait are you sure this was an NSX

And not an RSX?

If it was an actual NSX I'm betting he wasn't racing or something is broken on his car... RSX is a different story..

For reference:

NSX:
0-60 = 4.6 Seconds
1/4 Mile = 13.2 Seconds

RSX Type S:
0-60 = 6.2 Seconds
1/4 Mile = 14.9 Seconds

RSX Base:
0-60 = 6.3 Seconds (??)
1/4 Mile = 15.8 Seconds

Haha yeah that's an RSX for sure. A lot easier for ricers to get their hands on than the much rarer and more expensive (and better) NSX.

Anyway an RSX is still a solid kill for any diesel! And especially if it was a type s! Wasn't trying to rain on your parade just clarifying for future readers!

Does the mkiv have much done to it? I'd also like to have seen the mockery your mkii would have made of that guy =p

The MKIV is just stage 2 with .216 injectors for performance. Malone calls it the torque bliss. I did do the solid flywheel and spec 2 clutch.

It was just funny, mine I usually don't run it hard, but when I do it sounds like it is screaming. But when compared to that thing it sounded like nothing was happening. His sounded like a chainsaw and mine like a tractor in the way the RPMS went. I thought it funny too when he would get on it instantly the exhaust was making much noise, but nothing was happening for him for what seemed like 2 seconds. VTEC, all the turbo lag you could ever want, without the turbo.

I honestly have no clue about most cars in general, especially Honda/Acura. I swear the badge said NSX, which if he did see the fast and furious and it changed his life, he could have glued that badge on.

Priceless.

Was his girlfriend in the car with him? That always makes my kills feel better haha
