I need a coolant line plug

I ordered a new coolant hard metal line. It's the pre bent pipe with a few nipples on it.

My na didn't come with one. The po Jerry rigged the coolant system with PVC plumbing parts. I don't have an oil cooler and need to block that nipple. How? With what?

I know at the "Help" section at the auto parts store they had like little rubber caps that go over a pipe nipple to close it off with a hose clamp... but to me that seems like a potential failure point I wouldn't want. The motors that did not come with oil coolers had a different metal line that runs along the front of the engine, its a different part.

I'm sure there is a different hard line but not one that was available to me.

I've seen those rubber caps online didn't like them either but may be only option.

You could add an oil cooler since you're already part way there. You just need the cooler, the two hoses and the longer nipple (or whole housing) that goes inside the oil filter housing.

Can't you route it to a Tee between the heater core valve and the engine.  Extra hose doing some work but secure with clamps and of proper materials.

Hillbilly maybe, but i have 2" of a hose connected with a bolt in the end to block it, done it many times in different locations, has never been a issue. Ready made caps have been s issue tho, seems to be bad quality compared to normal hoses...

I admit I had only turbo pipes and turned my 85 jetta into a non turbo setup and kept the pipe.  I recall at germanautoparts when looking over the coolant hoses selection that they had a cap that was applicable.  It was cheap so I used one with a clamp and haven't noticed any issues in that area, but its only been a couple years.  If a concern perhaps order a couple extras and throw them in the glove box?

I guess I would be scared to depending on how the hose was made, and now you are making me wonder the same about what I used, which was a name brand part.  I just don't remember at the time as having an issue using it.  I thought it was a pretty thick piece of plug.

If you will never use it you could weld it shut.

I could weld it but I would be afraid to blow through it or not completely seal it.

Tig or braze it. Find a piece of metal similar and close it up.
