Darkdside Tubular Exhaust And GTB Turbo Downpipe MK1
« on: June 11, 2014, 12:45:07 am »
Shipped both new items today to Techtonics tuning for mock up of the 2.5 downpipe for the MK1

This turbo has the exhaust on the opposite side Passenger ) so a new different downpipe must be made..

I ordered a 2.5 Complete exhaust with a Borla Muffler for the build from TT

Next: will be the custom snorkel doing a 180 degree bend back into the MK1 TD airbox, I will make a insert for the engine breather tube

I mfg ( copied ) the original MK1 snorkel years ago and they are  still selling

Do you make any block off plugs about 3/4" OD for areas like the engine breather tube. I want to try blocking off the hole in my aluminum pipe but haven't found anything that didn't take up a lot of volume inside the pipe or that had a decent enough head that I wasn't worried about it falling in and getting stuck in the turbine wheel.

I'd be interested to know more about the insert for the breather tube.  I ended up using high temp epoxy to seal the heater in to my aluminum intake pipe - it works but it's not as pretty as I would like.

the rubber ones suck, they start to crack and leak with in a year or 2.  i used one on the heater core pipe of my rabbit when i switched to non over flow radiator.

Any photos?
1985 jetta TD. It was free, and it shows. Down and dirty engine refresh made it run fairly well.... No leaks, except water into the cabin!

I bought some silicone caps/nipples from 034motorsport, they held up for a few years w/o the failures I had previously with rubber, epmd I think.
