Cheap RWD "cool" car $1500-$3000?

Volvo 740 2.4TD? Just like the 1.6TD we all love, but with 2 more sylinders:-)  pulls like a train. Drove a 2.8ton LT50 towing 2.3ton  Vivaro with this type engine, would do 100-120 kph (which was top speed) easily.  Will do burnouts at idle:-)

So, Acme has a trans adapter for 22R based 4runner swaps using manual trans, wonder if any Toyota trans that bolt to a 22R, and should work with
the Acme kit, will fut a 240(shifter in right place.

The only TDI 240 I've seen had the motor setting way back in the bay.

really the only full frame car i think i'd mess with would be 70s-80s g body cars, montecarlo, cutlass, regal, and pontiac grand prix.

The G-bodies are cool but there's not too many left. I had an '83 Cutlass back in the day... 305, black, 2-door, T-tops... I was 19. It lasted 9 months before I broke it. They don't like getting airborne.

They tended to rot out their frames around the rear axle. You see them around with the rear bumper strapped on all the time, that's because the frame broke and there's nothing holding it up any more.

G-bodies are plentiful in my area, and I want one... I helped a buddy drop a 5.3 in one last year... but I'm trying to figure out why it's the ONLY full frame car you'd play with.

my dad had an 87 monte carlo ss with t-tops, i learned to drive in it.  but they are very rusty cars, rear quarters and fender wells, and any part of the frame seems to rust lots and lots.

I see lots with crushed velvet interiors and tiny wire spoke wheels out here. 

Back east it was what the hot redneck girl in schools dad drove when they hadn't quite managed the F or Fox body.

And this is why you need a turbo 5.3 in a fairmont.

Mark 7 or 8 Lincoln?  8's prettier, 7's way cheaper and simpler to fix and mod.

I have had a Mk8. Good car till one of the 900 dollar air bag suspension starts leaking. My 85 Mercedes 300D is a way better car.

My daily driver is my 86 TD vw and my wifes is our 85 MB. We are retired Probably upgrades are going to be slow.

I don't know that I can stand the interior on a lot of domestic stuff from the 80's and 90's, like the Lincolns, after having Mercedes and such most of my life.
The 8 especially, neat car, but just goofy cheap looking inside.
