even 944's and 924's are cheap, but u don't want euro. 914's are cool too if u can find one that isn't rusted into 2 pieces haha.

I sell P-car crap for a living, I might barf if I have to deal with one on my off hours.
If there was a regular drivetrain in the early VW 924 I'd have one though.
And put a diesel in it.
Unfortunately I managed to crack a molar, so I'll be buying the dentist a car instead of me for
right now I guess. Sigh. I appreciate the suggestions though guys.

Teeth, can't live without 'em, at least not on the coasts.
My other thought when you get back to your quest is a pre-smog dodge colt, the captive import mitsubishi lancers are about the only classic rwd japanese cars you can get in that price range.

i always thought toyota cressidas were kind of cool too, theyre on the supra platform and are the precursor to lexus cars

It's probly for the best that I ponder it awhile longer.
I really do dig the idea of a vette or such, it's been a long time since I had a plain old v8 RWD, but the last vaguely
sporty car I had, an E30, it just attracted so much attention. It was pretty much stock and I couldn't go anywhere
without some asshat wanting to race and being a jerk in general. This was back east and folks around here are a lot
more mellow, but it was one of the reasons I ditched that car.

im always down for a race even if i know my car is much slower, the guys in diesels trucks always seem to want to race haha. All in good fun of course. Right now i'm prowling around on my scooter looking for a honda ruckus to race. they're cool little scooters but so over priced, i just wanna see how my 500 dollar honda aero compares to the most over priced scooter available haha.

I raced a dumptruck once in my 81. Beat him, barely, but he was loaded.
The un-governed school bus was my nemesis though.

I know you said no "euro" but I've always enjoyed the Merkur XR4ti. RWD, manual, turbo 2.3 litre, handles well and doesn't look like everything else on the road. Problem is around here a decent one is hard to find without going over the 3 grand mark by a bit.

Pinto wagon counts as cool. But needs a lot of un-ford'ing to be I'd drive it cool.
Saw a Vega GT wagon with an inline six and a stick the other day. Lot of potential but more than
I can handle with my tiny shop right now.

Did an Astre wagon with a 3.8l odd fire buick V6/5 speed back in the day, lots of fun. I remember a hot road magazine article about dropping a rabbit engine in one, so a diesel is a possibility, the parts are out there.

Given the patience, I can put a diesel in anything RWD within reason that CA will let me. Or I can register it out of state.
That was my original thought, the best part of my Caddy is probobly the motor and stuff hung on it. I'm really sick of the chassis,
but OK with the motor.
AAZ Volvo 240? I know the cars well, have had half a dozen of em.
