I think I found a 760 turbo! If its possible to make a hybrid out of these two I'm gonna let the local shop tear them apart and get it balanced. The 760 is a 50 trim correct? It should spool similar to stock I'd imagine.
i have one but haven't driven the car with it, andy also has one on his aaz rabbit, but hasn't driven the car yet. theman53 had a similar 45 trim hybrid turbo on his 1.6 and destroyed it pretty quickly, but he kind of has extreme circumstances because of how heavily ported his head is with larger valves as well. if you do run one, just take caution as you increase boost, as it is basically uncharted territory. the old d24t volvo engine did basically have the same turbo tho, a 50 trim t3 with a .36 hot side.
I actually destroyed it 2x. If you do it I wouldn't go over stockish boost levels of 12psi and do not use any thrust bearing except the 360 degree one. Even then, I would see how much they would charge to port the exhaust housing and fit the entire Volvo turbo into the vw housing. The T3 is just so small, IIRC it has a 3cm exhaust housing, for my performance needs I think somewhere in between a 5 and 9 would be ideal, depending on how much lag you can handle.
Thanks for the advice fella's. I'm just going to have my t3 rebuild and leave it alone.
