HI all !!! rather than hijack another thread,,,,, I would like to know what other people use in their diesel fuel?? I've got a diesel 1ton van and I've found that most people w this same engine use ( and argue about it too :x ) a fuel conditioner of some kind ..... some absolutly swear by the Stanadyne stuff, some by power service,,,,,,,,,all of them say that the stanadyne rotorey pumps need the extra lube and the cetane boost is just a extra benny..... what do YOU think
I generally don't use any additive, but I run at least B20 too. If I am on a road trip and have to fill up on regular diesel, I always try to use a cetane booster (I think mine is power service). The engine sounds much louder on diesel (mostly at idle) and seems much happier on the biodiesel blends -- which I think is due to the cetane being higher. Not really scientific, but if it sounds happier with additives, I'd use them.
our cetane rating sucks here,,like 40-42, i knew the old idi needed like 50-55 or something closer to that,so whatever you can do for our watered down cat pee diesel, will improve it,,i think redline makes a good one,ive used it a few times,,it actually looks thick when you shake it,,they have it for cat+non cat ,,i always grab a few bottles when i haveta go to summit,so i know they got it,,,,stanadyne is good stuff too,,,,,,i borrow that from work
I think Auto Zone carrys Redlines.
I use Wynn's injector cleaner in mine.. Put a bottle of it in ever 4 or 5 fill ups.. It works very good on my '82 N/A 1.6.. Cuts down on some of the shakin' goin' on...
