Is PVC Biodiesel safe?Also what could you use to replace the aint drain back valves in the fuel lines on a MK2?Thanks

Hi;
I am not sure about PVC - I think it would be fine as I believe the line from the fuel filter to the IP is made of it; but I run BioDiesel in my Rabbit and am replacing all the lines with Viton (a kind of synthetic line commonly used in the newer TDis.)

You can usually buy it in bulk (I am getting it from a local VW Shop.)

Viton and urethane are the two materials usually used for biodiesel-proof fuel lines.

Viton is more heat resistant, and costs $10-15 per foot.

Urethane is more abrasion resistant, and costs $1-2 per foot.

Guess which one I'm gonna use in my car.

Another thing: viton can be hard to find. Urethane, however, can be found at any motorcycle shop worth their salt.

And, I'm gonna hijack the thread, and ask a question...

What are the dimensions of the fuel line that needs to be replaced to biodiesel-proof a Mk2 1.6NA?

I belive 1/8 for the injector return lines and 5/16 for the feed line no clue about the return line to the tank.

Find a motorcycle shop. They'll have it.

Whether it'll be in the right sizes or not, is another question.

Growler (on TDIClub) was recommending Iron Pony near Westerville.

I know this might sound odd or maybe a bad idea but has anyone tried to use PVC air line for fuel lines?It's rated at 300psi and is not to stiff.What you guys think?
