I understand where you're coming from. I just can't dodge the cost of the parts it would take to produce this in any sort of quantity. Using a junk yard intercooler would definitely cut down on the cost. I was just trying to make a complete bolt-on system. The other thing is that a lot of factory intercoolers have plastic tanks that will pop off and that is something I need to avoid.

i agree with all your concerns. if i had $600 to spend on an intercooler that would be great but i don't so i'd use some junk with plastic end tanks and keep the boost lower. for me its the pipes that would be a pain in the ass to come up with. good luck with it. i think its a great idea, just making it cost-feasible small-scale is the issue i think for you.

I've read over the years about plastic end tanks having issues like popping off, etc, yet I've never seen such a thing, nor have I ever had a problem with it.  This is with using saab (3 different types), and a few friends running volvo (2 types) plastic end tank intercoolers with 30 psi or over, for years.

Chances are if indeed the end tank pops off (unlikely), it has already sustained some type of trauma, and all that would be needed is to re crimp the tabs on the core to end tank joint, or get another untweaked core.

I have always wanted a intercooler kit for our cars.... if you planning on making a cooler and all the piping then im sure we could expect youd find a good place for it and make it to fit properly

If you can make a cooler for between my rad and front end supports and its piped out like passingers wicked exhaust mani then im in.....$600 or whatever...

I hope you come up with something, Best of luck!

i am open to the idea, but it has to be affordable.  the hardest thing to do is get the pipe bent right.  i think everyone can find coolers that will fit in front but it is just hard to get pipe to them without spending a lot of money.  silicone connectors are expensive and so is aluminum pipe and these aren't bentley's that we're driving around so i am probably going to try something myself and mess up before i spend a lot of money.  you learn better that way  good luck with the kit!

I was just wondering which cars I should be looking at/for a intercooler for our cars while im crusing thru the wreckor

I was told there is a nice cooler on some Volvo maybe someone could pass the word on which model?

Also I remember hearing something about a SAAB cooler also? Which Sabb?

Also In the Vendor's section I remember seeing in one of "Passinger's pictures of the "Custom Intake Mani Thread" there is a beautiful intercooler in the picture with the two turbo's and the cylinder head sitting on the ground! EDIT*

I was wondering who or where to get something like that....should be perfect to fit between the rad an rad support area behind the lights!

Where and How Much for one of these babies?

i would probably grab one from you.. as long as the quality is there.

for me personally.. i enjoy best bang for buck and quality.

i'll draw a small scale right now (ps. i'm drunk)

$---------------------$$$$$$$$$
A----B----C----D----E

a=***ty don't buy
b=***ty but not as ***ty cuz it will last a bit longer
c=mid range.. quality is there with the use of cheaper materials
d=like mid range but with better materials
e=top of the line in material and quality and looks

for me.. i'm a D or E or somewhere between those two letters kinda guy. on my own scale... yeahh...

I was just wondering is Dave back from the Hospital yet and building or?

the quality sure looks like its there...

I asked a few people who have those kits and there all talking like I should pawn my simiese cat and get it asap and I figure they must be alright if their reputation is that good.. I mean pawn my cat!?!?!???!

But that mani/downpipe/cooler and even the piping is top notch
What a toss up Cat or intercooler

Man my lady would kill me
