When my IP started leaking a month ago, I somehow convinced my wife that rather than sending the pump to Giles for a reseal/ superpump install, it would "make more sense" for me to just do a full TDI swap into my car. How I justified that, I'll never really know. I think I must have blacked out, because normally I never would have pulled that off. But enough about that.
What I have is a 1.6 out of my '86 Golf. The odo didn't work when I bought the car initially, but showed 55,000 miles. I fixed it, and it now has about 70,000ish. I guess what I'm getting at is the actual mileage is unknown. A year ago I pulled the engine apart and re-ringed it (not rebuilt), though it didn't really need it; I did it as a college-break exercise. At the same time, I put in an AAZ HG and ARP head studs (as well as new conti-timing belt and tensioner). It also has new glow plugs as well. I also added a proper TD IP that has been mildly gov modded and has a 1.9 AAZ camplate in it. The oil pan is a little leaky, however I'm happy to include a brand-new one with the motor. I also have some extra glow plug fuses, an extra victor-reinz 3-notch AAZ HG, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. The motor will not include the turbo, as it was something that was custom built for me, and frankly, because it will fit on the ALH motor I'm tossing in. Other than that, the motor will be complete with the new alternator I put in over the summer, A/C compressor (which honestly is probably no good, but might work; my evap core has been shot for years) and whatever else is bolted onto it right now. It'll start whenever, so if you want to come on the coldest day in the forseeable future, I'll be happy to let you warm her up.
If turbo's aren't your thing and you like to keep it simple, I still have the good N/A injection pump and intake, and I will swap that stuff for you. I really don't want to pull it until it's sold, however classes start again in a month and I'd like to be mostly done if possible. No pressure.
