If you aren't familiar with good brands, that's the first place to start.
It's generally a good rule of thumb to stick with suppliers that originally made the parts for the OEM mfgr.
ex. here are some quality brands that I carry.
Bosch, Mahle, Mann, Kolbenschmidt, Nüral, Glyco, Graf, Wahler, Beru, Cohline, Sachs / Boge, Reinz, Goetze, TRW - DE, Continental, Meyle, Hella, INA, SKF, GKN/Loebro, Cofle, ATE, Febi, Brembo, Bosal, Valeo, etc.
Not to say that there aren't exceptions, but generally when you deal with a part that's made by a European OEM provider, it's a good bet the part is quality.
