Anyone ever have any problems with the tach reading way high when swapping the 1.9 in a mk2 with the mk3 alternator and serpentine belt?

You have to take the cluster from the dash, then cut a hole in the side of the cluster on the tach side to access the adjustment which can be used to make up for diffferent sized pullys.QuickTD preformed this procedure for me on my aaz powered 91 jetta with the serpentine setup. If your interested in preforming this I'm sure QuickTD will better explain the details .

There is a trimmer potentiometer located in the cluster on the right hand side under the tach. You need to remove the cluster and remove the rear cover. You can then see where the potentiometer is located. Drill a hole in the side of the rear cover of the cluster so that you can insert a small screwdriver and adjust the trimpot with the cluster assembled and connected to the wiring. Use a photo tachometer and a piece of reflective tape on the front pulley of the engine to get an actual readout of the engine RPM, adjust the tach trimmer to so the tach matches and you're done.

One important detail I forgot to mention is that this adjustment thing that you use is only supported by it's terminals alone so when you get that small flat head screwdriver in there Don't push in to far or you will bent and possibly break the thing off.
