Clocking the Hub on an ALH IP
« on: August 08, 2013, 06:39:26 pm »
What is the procedure for clocking the hub on the IP on an ALH IP. I just did a re-seal and can't find anything on clocking the hub since there is no key way.
TIA
Jason

There is most likely a spot on the shaft where you will be able to make out where the line in the hub would have sat on the shaft.

I believe that the woodruff key slot in the shaft should align with the little reference mark at the edge of the seal when the pin is in the hub.  That is not an 'at rest' location, tho.  The rollers are climbing the camplate.  You can use a nut on the shaft to rotate the shaft to the correct location and then use the side bolt to hold the shaft in place.  Then take the nut off and crank on the hub.  Then release the shaft.  Then you will need to fine time it using vag-com.
