85 TD jetta (aka The DADA), First rebuild and intro
« on: August 05, 2013, 06:30:56 am »
So I have been a member of this site for year and have never posted but after years of reading and learning from members I have to share what I have been doing. I would like to extend my thanks to all the posters and great advice that has been given.

First a quick intro.

I have a 1985 Jetta turbo diesel. I bought it in 2004 as a second car so I wouldn't put miles on my 240sx that had a JDM engine swap. Well to make a long story short I ended up using my Nissan less and always preferred the DADA (I named my car The DADA). Got married and sold the Nissan. Drove the car to till one day it never started again. As a hobby I love working on cars so I decided to rebuild my first engine and took the engine out. Ordered a rebuild kit from PartsPlace and got my tools. Its been an ongoing process for a year now. Working on it on weekends when I get the chance.

I just put the engine back in yesterday so depending on interest I will post more photos.

At the time I bought the car there was a vw golf commercial that played the Da Da Da song. One thing led to the other and it stuck. Its been its name for almost ten years now. My family refers a VW DADA now and we sometimes forget that no one else knows what a DADA is and have to correct ourself.
