This turbo was given to me by a buddy. It was off of a Quantum diesel. (Rear wheel drive). I will try to upload pics, all I know is its a Garret.
Will the exhaust clear my booster/shift linkage with a tight bend on the exhaust?

No dice on the upload, but the tag on the turbo reads as follows:

The Quantums were front wheel drive or all-wheel drive. No rear wheel drive mk1s or mk2s other than the vanagon.
Regardless, if it came off a Quantum it will definitely work on a Quantum. If your vehicle isn't a quantum you might have issues.

Some research on the web tells me its a Garrett TAO304, but not much else.

My friend says Quantum, but it could be a Fox?? I have seen vw's with the motor installed longways.
The vehicle it may go into is an '81 Caddy 1.6 NA.

The Quantum's engine was mounted longitudinally instead of transversely like the Rabbit, Golf & Jetta so you may need to get creative with your exhaust plumbing.

Yes, the fox, dasher, quantum were all longitudinal but still front wheel drive. The turbo will work with the typical golf/jetta manifold. I'm not sure if it will work with the longitudinal manifold.

I dont think it will work on the quantum exhaust manifold

I should also qualify my previous statement that it will work with the jetta/golf manifold. It will, but you will need to re-clock the center section and compressor scroll which can be a significant task if bolts break.

You also need a transverse thermostat housing.
