Turbo parts Needed
« on: May 20, 2013, 10:22:37 am »
Hello fellas,

I haven't posted anything in quite some time since my mk2 blasted by that woman.
But I now will be starting a turbo diesel build again and I need your help

I will need a few parts that I have been having trouble getting ahold of. Hopefully you guys have some spares of these parts.

1. Intake manifold- Perfer the stock 1.6 TD but let me know what you have.
2. Exhaust manifold
3. K24 or T3 turbo- maybe a K26 but still looking into that. But perfer the K24. Please dont be afraid to throw other turbos out at me.
4. Oil lines, not sure. Might make my own.
5. Intercooler- Thinking a mk4 side mount. But will also be looking in "you pull-it" junk yards.

The rest of the stuff, I most likely have or will be able to source.
So please let me know what you have.

Did the Mercedes diesel ever come with k24s or was it just T3.
I have a chance to get an older Mercedes turbo at a good price. He says it's a k24.  I can post a pic to if that helps

I have a K24 that from my mk2 I would part with.

I think the Merc were t3 only and theres was a ton bigger than ours. The exhaust side is too big from what I have heard.

some of the mercedes had kkk turbos they're not very common tho.  and the only k26 i would think about running would be the one off of a 944 turbo.

yeah he said it was a k24, but after looking a little closer it says " Airresearch" on the side of the compressor, which I'm pretty sure that means it a t3.
Now with the K26, the one from the 933. How much lag would that have and what are the reviews? Good power in the upper rpms?

k26 i don't think will be good for anything short of an all out build, i can't really comment on how goo the 933 k26 would or wouldn't be because i don't know anything about it.  but most the k26's i have seen especially ones from audis are not good for our engines, they are not very efficient at higher boost levels(above 15-20psi)  although they do flow decent amounts of air they can't do it at the high boost we need.  the only one i've seen that would be good is the 944 turbo but even that one i'm not sure how great it would be, but its the only one i would try that have seen the measurements for and the compressor map.

OK, I trust that. Other than the VNTs what are people using for power builds? just the K24 or T3?
