web based parts suppliers

What is your experience? Are you happy with the quality of what you get. Are the parts standing up for the long haul? I like a deal on parts but life has taught me that you generally only get what you pay for. Cheap usually means low quality. I like driving the car more than tearing the engine apart so I tend to aim for quality. Reliability is really important to me. Where are the deals for the good stuff?

If you aren't familiar with good brands, that's the first place to start.

It's generally a good rule of thumb to stick with suppliers that originally made the parts for the OEM mfgr.

ex. here are some quality brands that I carry.

Bosch, Mahle, Mann, Kolbenschmidt, Nüral, Glyco, Graf, Wahler, Beru, Cohline, Sachs / Boge, Reinz, Goetze, TRW - DE, Continental, Meyle, Hella, INA, SKF, GKN/Loebro, Cofle, ATE, Febi, Brembo, Bosal, Valeo, etc.

Not to say that there aren't exceptions, but generally when you deal with a part that's made by a European OEM provider, it's a good bet the part is quality.

I've dealt with these guys, and I am very happy with all the stuff I have ordered from them. They have fast service and good communication.

I checked a few parts on that site & it doesn't list the part manufacturer. Is it a Bosch Part????

This one lets you know who makes the part, has pictures & details etc.

autopartsway.ca ripped me off on some ebc pads, no one answers the phone or emails.

Most of these sites are just wolrdpac resellers who never even touch the part.

I have found that a lot of the worldpac based sites offer parts from OEM suppliers. However it's usually from their Korean, Chinese etc factories, not their European ones.

I personally haven't had a problem with any of these parts but if given a choice vs the European version, I'll take the European version.

FEQ is garbage though, stay away from them

www.germanautoparts.com is a very good website.

If I was ordering from the states I would just buy from Myke though.

I ordered a clutch from Classic Auto in Putnam County, NY (IIRC). Good price, free shipping, and got here the next day via UPS.

I have also dealt with Parts Place in Michigan, and while some people here have not had a good experience, I have never had a bad one.

But I would go one better than Tyler, and suggest ordering parts from fellow members. The knowledge on here is second to none (IMO), and some even keep this site going. So one would think you will get the parts (and needed knowledge) almost every time.

I've had good experiences with http://www.partsgeek.com

They list the manufacturer and their prices are typically great.  One of the best things about them is they charge the same flat shipping rate regardless of what you buy or where you live.  Not sure if they ship to Canada though, eh?

I've also had good experiences with http://www.rapidparts.com

They ship free if you spend $100 or more.  The prices are mediocre.  Again, not sure if they ship to Canada, eh?

autohauzaz.com is where I buy most of my stuff or is it azautohauz.com either way you will find it with a search, I have rebuilt two engines using parts from them and good results with both, one was a stock 1.6 and another was a 27 psi boosted 1.6. I am on the third engine which I plan to fire tomorrow afternoon which is a stock 1.6.
