Hmmm - good point. My reason (for smaller pics) is that it's tough to explain whats going on because the words are so far apart.
The thumbnails are there to get the gist of the message and if someone wants the detail, it's only a click away.
Maybe I should start a poll and let that decide - whatever it takes to make this post go away!

Point taken on the small gives more word time and less download time. I expect some of rural merica and parts north are limited in speed of Internet. Not a problem in Megatropolis. I only pay for the basic package and they keep upping the Mb/sec as a means of staying competitive I suppose. I was fine with the rate I had years ago. Finally booted the downstreaming college kids out and no more broadband problems.
Tough to decide but the BUMP photo is about right for word availability and picture size. I'm tempted to try an experiment here on resizing some pics and upload them to see where most feel good about the visual aspect of the picture and the ability to put some sort of description around it on the same eyespot.
Original at 940 wide
Straight off the camera to Photobucket, no editing or resize as a reference point.
At 800 Wide
I am trying to teach him to say I'm good and I bite hard! He has the first part down pat, not sure he will get the rest soon.
At 600 Wide
Yeah, this would work but it is just a tad on the large size for a quick look. But I wonder how it works on a screen of normal size? I have an HP HDX 18 Laptop and the screen is 1.5 times the width of a normal laptop. You tell me, works or doesn't work?
At 400 Wide
This one actually looks the right size to be sticking in more text and sort of kinda being able to read it all and not have it all on the line below the picture.

Sounds like a plan Mr.
Personally 400 is my choice or even 300.
I use Picassa to upload right now and I don't know if it does (
edit
; get bigger when you click it) it or if it does, it's not obvious to me.
BTW. I realize the small photo is just a link to the larger one.

I'm losing information at 400, 600 looks nice on my cheap 21", and takes maybe 1/6 of the screen.

600 is good on my phone. I hate needing to scroll pictures no matter what I'm on.

Now if I could just teach Popeye to weld like MYKE! I am not sure what damages my hands more that beak or those tight nuts that make the wrenches slip.
