Do I need parts?

Pulled the head off a non running golf I purchased a few months ago to see what was going on.. here's what I found :o 86 Naturally aspirated no power mods...



92 Passat wagon M-TDi
03 Jetta wagon TDi

bbob you do not need parts.  You need to stop buying junk.  Holy Noodles what the heck is going on there?  I can't see how a piston could tear up like that, or the pre cups blow or a valve drop out and the driver not notice some performance issue.  Is the block trashed as well.  All expensive and all broken. 

I would say no new parts go look for another engine.

 ;D  sad part.. he thought it would run... after the cam was installed, belt then engine turned you heard a clink then dead stop.. i look at him.. see told ya it scrap.. pull the head... then he thought ohhh just a valve.. im like no that valve part so head and piston... get it off.. you can see where the pre cup burnt thru the headgasket..

That piston is awesome.  Someone just kept right on going even after it sounded like a big bag of hammers...   ;D  I want to steal that pic of the head and use it as an avatar pic...

Yeah, that head looks like it got punched in the face.
 Black eye, fat lip, ha.

:D he was told it stalled at idle in driveway... with precup like that.. runaway at high rpm before it came down to idle and valve head popped off... just forgot the 98% of what happened before idle..
