Make engine rev faster.

So how do I do it. I want my engine to spin up a bit faster than it does. I am just not feeling the acceleration ya know. It will spin up to 5K (I dont do it) easy enough, but its how long it takes to get there. I have the pump worked already, 2.5" exhaust (need dp still), boost up to 15lbs. And yet the only gear that revs fast enough is 1st, and its so short it wont even build boost. So any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You need more horsepower.. Its the only way to do it. lol. You can't spin something faster and quicker without the power/force to do so.

At least... nothing easier short of adding more power. I am guessing the turbo is a T3 or the kkk24 and they are slower to build boost when near stock power levels.

Also, spinning to 5000rpm (if the engine is in good working order) will not harm anything. I used to rev my 1.6 NA out to higher than that every shift.. hah

Mo Power huh? I need an intercooler for that. I will check into the BatMoWheel for my turbo then. Stock its capable of pushing as much air as I need (20ish psi). Are there any lightweight single mass flywheels? How about roller rockers?

Can't he just shave some weight off his existing flywheel?  Or do we really need that much weight to keep things smooth against the heavy smack down at ignition on every cylinder?

Ohhhhh, You're a V8 gasoline guy .....

Rockers? These are OHC not OHV engines No rockers. Cam lobe is directly on the lifters. Yes an inter cooled 20psi will be a good power spot. Any hotter and you are really just ingesting hot air, hurting performance.

The 1.6 flywheel is already pretty light in terms of flywheels.. I think it is like 11lbs?? Not to mention from what I have read light weight flywheels and diesel do not mix. I am running a 1.9 210mm flywheel on my m-tdi and it revs up fine . YA NEED POWAH!

11lbs is light. On note of that, for ORCoaster: The IDI engines dont have the same internal jolts as DI engines. That is why they are so much smoother at higher RPM's. So much for that. I started in V8's, that is true. Went Japanese (Subaru) and then VW because its diesel. OHC huh? That is awesome. I guess VW has gone a little backwards as earlier TDI's were pushrods.

So the short answer here is, better DP, IC, BatMoWheel and more boost w/ more fuel. Too easy.

The stock flywheel is nowhere near 11lbs.

I think you can shave a few pounds of the stocker with a positive effect on performance but if you get too light you're drivability will suffer greatly.

Would it be worth the cost? I can't answer that for you.

tdi are same design as old IDI.
newer are twin cam 16v

The stock AAZ 210mm flywheel wieghs 12.6lbs the 200mm should be a tad heavier, but I would say somewhere in the 13 range. TDI never has had pushrods. The downpipe will allow the turbo to flow better and spool faster. I could make 10psi in nuetral with my k24 and 3" all the way. It sounds like you need to add some fuel and read the FAQ section on how to make your "x" car faster.

I have the 8v flywheel on my 1.6TD.  lts revs up and down a little quicker when free reving, but not much compared to the old NA with stock FW.  I don't know if it has done anything for any substantial power gains though. 


Also a intercooler makes that boost make your ass hit the seat a little harder.  A downpipe made my turbo spool quicker for sure.
