Scirocco to mk1 parts
« on: March 20, 2013, 10:34:44 am »
I found a mk2 scirocco in the junk yard with most of its interior. I already snagged the steering wheel and I plan to go out later with some more tools to grab some more stuff. The Seats are in great condition along with some other stuff.

I'm changing my interior away from awful uncomfortable tan. And I'm wondering will the seats bolt into my rabbit? I know they are both a1 cars and the interior looks really similar. But I'm just not sure.

Also what else will swap? Seat belts? Rear seats? Carpet? Etc?

And is there anything else worth grabbing off a mk2 Scirocco for my car performance wise? Any rare parts to grab and sell?

Is it a 16v model? It may have the 10.1" brake calipers and brackets that will allow direct swap on to mk1 Jetta/Rabbit, as well as the bigger master cylinder.. but it may be toast from sitting if it is dry.

It is a 16v! And yes there is always that risk whenever looting junk cars... but is the 10.4 upgrade really worth while? I feel like my tires can barely hold up to my solid 9.4s with budget pads lol.

I may take a close look when I go out next time. I'm really thinking about snagging the seats if they can be worked in. they are much nicer than mine and have decent side bolsters.

Anything anyone else needs off of it?

Any disc can lock up under panic braking.. it is the prolonged braking, or many quick decels whilst spiritedly driving that will test a solid 9.4. If I am driving like a dcik and I get on the brakes a lot I can feel my 9.4's not having much of it lol.

Yes, they are really worth it. 10.1 and vented ;)!

Excellent! Well I may have no choice then but to pick up at the parts I can find. Do i need the booster too or just the mc? Will they work without the new master cyl if that has been jacked already or if it is shot? Or will there not be enough fluid to move them? And will this master be enough to go to mk3 drums or discs in the back if I wanted to later?

::) lots of questions haha. I should just go snag what I can haha.

The scirocco shifter is a nice upgrade I do on all of my A1's, it's swept toward the driver so 5th isn't in the pass side floorboard anymore.

The seats will fit with work, if they are good they are worth taking if they aren't too expensive, someone will need them
nearby if not you.  I want to say they bolt in but wouldn't swear it, I know they are lower and give more headroom once
swapped in.

If the 16v body stuff is clean it's worth having to someone, rear parcel shelf thing, pretty much anything in really good shape,
16v's have specific rear taillamps too.

16v seats should go right in, but check which side the lever is on, because the scirocco/cabby floor pan was changed at some point to have the slider lever on the opposite side to match the a2 chassis.  even if the levers are on the wrong side u can sometimes switch the seats side to side or modify them so they fit on the opposite side.

That's great news. I think they are around 35 a seat. Much cheaper than recaros and an upgrade for my rabbit I think ;D

I'll check to see if there is anything else shiny when I'm out there. Is the scirocco master cyl and brake pedal and booster the only ones that will fit? What about using a mk3 brake booster and mc with the 10.1s?

Yep! Well of some sort at least. The centers are cloth. I'll upload a pic later. They look great in the rabbit.

Well I'm keeping the seats. The car is in the yard. If he needs something specific I could make a trip to check/pull it for a couple bucks or I can check next time I'm out there.
