Hi guys,
I have lurked and posted infrequently on here for a while. I need the community's help...
I am writing a paper (the class project) for my business class on the two attempts Volkswagen has made to use US labor to produce cars. I need an excerpt that may or may not actually exist from an old Rabbit or Jetta manual. The story goes that my friend who has a rare 83 TurboDiesel Jetta said the owners manual made the reference that if the car got "remarkably below 44 miles to the gallon" that it needed service.
I need a scan (or camphone photo) of this page (along with any\all publisher info from the covers) to use a citation in my paper.
My dad has an 86, and that isnt in his manual. I have the 1984 EPA ratings for the Rabbit and it says 40/44, which is sufficient for my needs...but I dont know when (and cannot easily find out) the EPA started the fuel economy ratings program. So if prior to 1981 (when VINs were standardized, if I recall) the EPA didn't do fuel economy ratings, I need something more concrete. It also just sounds odd to cite an 84 model when taking about cars made in 78 (and there was a change from 78 to 84...).
If you'd like to read the work, or offer comments, I would be happy to share and listen.
Thanks!
