TDI-E pump upgrades?
« on: March 15, 2013, 04:27:15 pm »
ive been doing some searching, and maybe i just suck at using the search function and at google... but im having a hard time finding DIY threads on how to upgrade TDI-E pumps. I have a 10mm AHU pump im interested in possibly doing some upgrades to.

is it even practical to upgrade or do i need to start with an 11mm pump?

The easiest mod you can do that's dirt cheap is the evry mod.  Do a search on it.  I've tried it and was very impressed.  There's a lot of fueling available out of a 10mm pump.  I would also think about bigger nozzles, bigger turbo and improving airflow like intercooler and piping before upgrading to an 11mm pump.  150hp is easily achievable with the stock 10mm pump which is a big jump from the stock 90hp.

When it comes down to it, there isn't much that can be done to the pump itself.  The limiting hp factors are all external like the computer map, size of the nozzles and the turbo.

Can that mod work on a 96 tdi 1.9 ?  I'd not try it until I had a rebuild..over 300,000 on it now..but after that, why not.
