Vanagon m-tdi idle timing
« on: June 11, 2020, 08:05:26 am »
Hi all!

I have a few questions:

I have a Vanagon with 1Z mtdi. I have chinese 502 injectors, and my pump is a modified 11mm Fiat Croma pump (0 460 414 096) with the 1Z camplate. I have an AAZ K14 turbo and all the ancillaries are from the 1.6 JX. The dynamic advance was set up by a local pump guy to "vw mtdi spec". He told me to set the base timing to 1,15 mm lift with dial indicator.

Is there any info out there what the SOI should it be on idle measured by VCDS? (I made a harness so I can connect the flywheel and injector senders to my Fathers AFN passat and I can see the timing on measuring blocks 004)

Probably my TDC mark is not accurate, as every time when I set by the dial indicator I get different numbers around 4-5 degrees. Now it is set to 5 degrees, as on lower values there is a lot of grey smoke while cold accelerating. But now it runs hard and the resonance shakes the plastic parts of the dash.

Is there anything to improve?
