Please, God... I don't ask for much. Just let them bring this to the US.

Being built in Mexico, so this has a fair chance of showing up here.

This will be my first new car, ever.

I'd guess 27-30k? I priced out GTI's in 2009 but am not sure what the cost is now, figure that plus 2k?

I may get one, if they come in something other than red and they have something other than the 2.0.

30,000 Euro being released to Germany in June of this year.. so figure it being closer to $50,000 IF it makes it here..

Nope.

Not gonna get it.

We don't get nice things.

The last nice thing we ever got was the ALH.  The Corrado before that.

Euro pricing has little to do with N/A pricing.

Current GTI here is 24k base, the cost of the tdi vs. the 2.0t is hard to decipher because of all the stupid option packages but seems to be negligible. In the UK the current mkVI.5v2 or whatever GTI is 700gbp more expensive than the GTD which is 25 thousand pounds. The Golf R is 35k.

I back my earlier statement, if we ever get the mkVII GTD it'll be in the 27-30 grand range.

No one in this country would pay near 50k for a golf. An x5 diesel base is 56K.

I'd pay 50k for THAT golf ;)

Also, how can you say that when a lesser Jetta or Golf TDI already goes for $32,000? I'd say its gonna be closer to $40k if anything.

its gonna come in any color you want.. the one Diesel Power tested was a light green color, much like the color of the diesel pump.

and its gonna come with a 2.0 gas, or a 2.0 diesel, so i hope you didnt want anything else besides a 2.0!

VW isnt making any other small 4 cylinder diesels are they? what other option for a diesel engine would they offer? doubt they are gonna dump a 1.2L 3cyl in there...
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

What are the additional fees on car sales up North? What's the sales tax on a new vehicle? Here it's %8.25-%8.75 depending on the county.

I just spec'd a tdi jetta out for myself, it was $23055. Add $800 destination charge, $400 or so worth of DMV fees, $1902 of sales tax. That's a little over $26000 out the door, too much for a jetta IMHO. I thought about adding the lip spoiler but $375 was a bit too much money. It doesn't really matter, I can't afford to buy any cars right now.

HAHA me either :( I am buying a house.. When I told the mortgage people I drive an 84 and an 88 and will not be having any car loans or payments ever in my lifetime they smiled and said good. lmao

Basically though my gf's sister bought a 2013 Mazda, and it was 20,000 base price. In the end total price came out to 27,750 or so.

I've been pissed with VW since the early 1990's - sorry to sound dated and old.

VW makes the diesel option a loaded option. Basically can't just buy a diesel engine package - rather it is bundled with other options that I really don't want or need?

When are they going to learn?

mildly angry in Canada.  >:(
