This was a funny, yet inappropriate picture. I, rallydiesel, am sorry for posting it. ;)

Don't do it.

NO REALLY, DON'T.
I WORK ON THEM.
I HATE THEM.

The top opens maybe 4 times trouble-free.  After that you fight small leaks and the latticework folding roof starts tugging at it's strings funny.  And I'm not even sure the Eos drivetrain CAN bus could take a diesel ecu, so that's a BIG 'if'.

Just TDI swap a cabby.  You'll be happier, and it's less impossible.

Then doubly no on the wheelchair thing!  You can barely fit a medium suitcase in the trunk with the roof down.  The roof TAKES SPACE IN THE TRUNK when it's lowered.  Not possible by any stretch of the imagination if you have a wheelchair!

And you're right about the tires, they have some extra side wear due to the fat ass, causes badd road noise and even cupping on crap directional tires.

Id go first gen miata for two seater covertible personally.  Wheelchair might fit in the trunk though I have no idea, top is the simplest, best design I've ever seen.  Not many cars as fun to drive

I second that.  I have a soft spot for those small converitbles, and if you can source a lower-geared diff and find a way to diesel swap it then I'd go for it.  That is if you can fit in that tiny go kart. :D

This guy did it with a 3 cyl mitsu diesel engine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnCrgTzvLkU.  And here's a thread for a bellhousing that mates a VW/Audi non-VR6 engine to a t5 trans: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=330122&highlight=t5+bellhousing.

he thinking passat 2.0 rebirth..

so now start looking... b3.. b4.. vr6.. so on..

my requirements is 90-97 solid og paint that never had clear.. supposed to be white.. maybe red... but met colors out.. repaint out... southern/west yep...

b4 only better in i have b4 e-codes.. and new 100$+ each front win regs (dealer only as aftermarket crap)... new rad... condensor...

all those slightly different then b3.. but i can mod/make work all but e codes..

to make it tdi... honestly the woman who drives can care less.. depends on what i can find...

wagon = better then sedan... rear door opening more square vs sedan... but again.. looking for og solid color no clear.. that will be overall factor..

hate to get a white like bbob's that someone put clear on to peal :( which it is... mine = no clear.. best og painted passat ive seen after 20 years due to it..

got tdi out of impound today... ~$500 in those losses... trailer still impounded... but i got to pay for tow and storage thru today.... all i wanted was a kiss or reach round... some spit would have been nice too...
