I know its like summer weather for you Canadians

, but this morning was the coldest its been so far this winter in RI, with a -10 windchill and right around 4 degrees or so in my area. I was a bit concerned about my 86 starting with no block heater yet installed, just off the glow plugs.
I live in a two apartment building on the 2nd floor with my GF, and we share the driveway with the first floor neighbor, a woman in her 50s with a souped up acura TL.
A couple weeks ago I had a starting problem because like an idiot, I parked the car on an incline with an empty fuel tank, and it siphoned my fuel filter empty, and i had to mess with it for about 20 minutes to get it to start, finally filling up the filter.
The neighbor has a patented patient superior smile and was basically being a Bi-atch about daily driving an old unreliable car as she called it during this incident.
Well this morning, my 86 IDI started on the first crank, my GF's 96 volvo started on the first crank, and the neighbor had to call AAA and have them jump her 2011 acura.

I had the extreme pleasure of saying "well, I guess both our cars are just as reliable now"

haha! thats great, i couldn't get my rabbit started even after i let it sit on the charger for about 6 hours, original starter and a 5 year old battery seems to be the problem haha. that battery has had a very rough life i had an alternator that was over charging it up to 17 volts, and then the replacement alternator took a *** a few years later with a bad voltage regulator. im sure the engine would light with a good battery or if i used jumper cables.

As I was talking with Trev0rbr yesterday I told him what temperatures I had yesterday..
I would be in a bathing suit at 4F!!
-21F when I woke up Tuesday.. Before the windchill haha. I eventually got all three diesels going in my driveway all not plugged in.

When it gets cold here I still do not mind so much as long as it's not windy

Was overcast today & a short sprinkle. Got down to 59F. Probably similar to Santa Cruz.

Fricking 14 here two nights ago. Carbed cars suck at low revs in the cold; the fuel literally falls out of suspension if it gets too cold. Also the skies opened forth and proceeded to actually drop snow that stuck. Remembered that old skinny 70s tires need some planning for stopping in slick surfaces.
And California can go to hell.

Times like this make me want to live in Australia.

So I take it there are not many of you gents concerned about global warming then? Most likely it couldn't come soon enough. At least before it is necessary to plug the car in for the night.

We have had 17 for the high last couple days. Nights it has been - 5 to -10 F and even colder with windchill. The TDI didn't want to light this morning. I glowed it 3 times and cranked. Went in for a bit and came out then it started. But sitting for 12hours in the - temps isn't that bad. It doesn't have a block heater as I couldn't get to it fast enough, and there are no freeze plugs in it, so I have to do an inline one.

My 67 Mercury sat out last winter under a tarp as I used the garage for VW work.. It always started absolutely no problem.
