So, why did you want to put a 2.0 mani on it? Interested to hear your thoughts

Probably to get it to fit into the car without having to drop the entire exhaust.  That's what I would have done anyway.

I had the toilet bowl style exhaust.. And it was leaking all over the damn place, comprising my in cabin air quality. At a stop light, I had more smoke coming from under the hood then I did out the back of the car! So the only way to fix it was a gasser manifold, but the only one available to me was a 2.0.

Right after that repair, my alternator fell apart..?

Did you try replacing the gasket on the manifold where is connects to the toilet bowl? Mine leaked pretty bad too, but I replaced that gasket and it's good now.

I think when the engine shakes around a lot it compromises that connection. But then I don't think that would be good for a solid connection either like the gasser or pre-81 bolt-on style manifolds.

the manifold off a 2.0 ABA is a much better designed unit tho, and will perform much better..

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

Is the downpipe laying on the steering rack in that photo?  Rattle Rattle....

Good idea though.  I've got an old GTI dual down on my NA'd 1.9.

Yeeeeah i was kinda past just putting a gasket on it.. the C clips were all bent out of shape from the entire exhuast hanging from the manifold.  I needed something more substantial

the manifold off a 2.0 ABA is a much better designed unit tho, and will perform much better..

You know i got a 5 mph higher top speed on hills and stuff after i put this thing on. now i don't know if it's related to the bitter cold we had this week, or the manifold.. but my car likes somethin better.

Is the downpipe laying on the steering rack in that photo?  Rattle Rattle....

it is sooo close, but does not hit it!

once your motor mounts settle more, it will rub..

the header on my GTI hit the rack, so my solution, was to cut some 1/4" aluminum spacers, and slip them under the rear engine mount, and the trans mount.. it effectively lifted the back of my engine just enough that the header clears everything nicely..

sure, but you wouldnt be able to run an intake manifold ;)

gotta remember, the ABA is a cross flow, and diesels are NOT.
