For Sale: 1980 Volkswagen Rabbit 1.9 IDI TD (AAZ)

There is a lot to say regarding this vehicle.   For the TL;DR peoples out there the first paragraph will sum up what has been done.  For details keep reading.

Car has been repainted, including door jams, a gloss black.  All weatherstripping has been replaced with new stuff (obtained from “mk1autohaus_2003” on ebay).  The windshield was replaced after the chassis was painted.  The engine has been rebuilt, no bore over was done because I could still see crosshatch on the cylinders walls when I disassembled it.  Front brakes have less than 15k miles on them; rear left rotor/caliper was replaced 6 weeks ago.   Front wheel bearings have less than 20k miles on them; rear wheel bearings have less than 1k miles.  The interior is the worst part of the car; it needs work that I am reluctant to give it at this point in my life.

The main reason I am selling this as an incomplete project is that I no longer have the desire to invest the time required to “polish” it [the project] up.  So, fear not!  The car is mechanically sound.  Therefore I am taking a loss on this so I can move onto other things.

This car is somewhat of a mix and match parts which has been very interesting and challenging to figure out as I have combed through it.  I have spent over $10,000 on this car rebuilding it, and it will still require a bit more to finish the interior.  I have a spreadsheet with the parts I have purchased and are currently installed on it.  So it is a “little black book” detailing what parts and what model and year VW they came from, so when/if replacement is necessary the guesswork has been removed from the process.

As well as purchasing the car, a whole lot of parts will come with it.

If I get my asking price I will include a winter set of wheels (pictured on the car, since it is winter)

New Stuff (In the past 2 years)
Wheels Bearings (all 4 wheels)
Brake Hoses (All replaced)
Brake Rotor (fronts, and rear driver side)
Brake Caliper (Rear driver side)
Brake Pads (all, less than 10k miles on them)
Parking Brake Cables (Both replaced)
Tie Rods (both)
Axel (Passenger Side)
Tie Rod Boots (Both)
Rear Suspension bushing replaced with Prothane
H&R Suspension (shocks and springs) kit
AFCO Racing Radiator
AAZ Engine
120Amp Alternator
Shifter Linkage Bushings (all have been replaced)
Flywheel 210mm, single dowel
Clutch 210mm
Throw out bushing, and pushrod are new
VDO Speedo, Tach, Water, Oil Pressure, EGT wiring is there, need gauge
Paint, Gloss Black
Weather stripping and Seals (ALL NEW)

Engine rebuilt
New Head
Valves
Retainers/Keepers
Lifters
Piston Rings
All Bearings
Block Heater

Modifications
Front Brakes are off a 1990 Corrado
Rears are 85 GTI disc
AAZ Engine
ASF Transmission
Electronic Speedo Gear/Sensor
Recaro Seats from a newer VW golf I think (came with car)
Clipper Bodykit, modified to fit a 4 door
Giles Performance Tune Pump (Super Pump)

Unfinished Stuff
Interior
needs carpet
cracks on vinyl on dash
no speakers, but wiring in place (just hookup speakers and plug in and mount radio)
I have hood struts and an aluminum lockable gas cap I will let go with the sale

There is a good chance that there is more I have forgotten about to list here.  Again, I do have an excel spreadsheet that has all the parts I have bought and installed on the vehicle.  It is a very comprehensive list, including part numbers and places where purchased and for how much.  I am trying to get out of working on modified cars, so if you want to work on this yourself I can sell several toosl I have purchased that are specific to VW diesel.
If you would like to speak in person then I can give my phone number out through email.  I will not post that on forums/for sale ads.

Link takes me to Google Drive and I have no password to enter.  Is this supposed to be a public site?  Does not seem so.  I want to SEE this thing.

Yes, it does.  Nice but way to far for me to drive and come get it.  Hope it sells locally and you get to see it once in a while.
