Welcome to the board Shorttimer.  I grew up around Ragged point & San Simeon, so say hi to the scenery for me.
I built a 2.25" exhaust on my TD Caddy, with a glasspack in front, a flowmaster behind the seat, and an angle exit just ahead of the driver rear tire.
It was moderately loud, didn't bang the body, and only scraped a little.
I tried about 5 different mufflers in various combinations, and at that diameter, it made very little difference,  just some subtle changes of note.  I didn't try any restrictive types though.

You have a clutch for an 02A. I have a flywheel that would fit your clutch, but you still need the 02A trans. Our 020 trans are completely backwards of a normal clutch.
