VW tools were a set of torx bits in many a size from tiny winy to macro jumbo.  I can stop rounding out with a hex head now.  Other tools are 18 V LI Battery jobs for drilling and impact driving.  And of course who doesn't need a nice set of hole saws these days.  I sure did as my others set my son off on a laughing fit when I tried getting him to use them for some drywall insulation work last month.  He said I seriously needed an upgrade so he conned his brother into getting them for me.  Ah the love of a good tool.

The small dewalt impact 18v or 20v is sorta like gear wrenches. You wonder why you ever used anything else.

I ended up choosing the Bosch drill and impact driver.  I was thinking of trying it out on the easily accessible nuts and bolts as my son also provided me with 1/2 to 1/4 inch drive adapters that go in the impact chuck.  That 6 sided shaft to a normal ratchet drive.  He says it saves all kinds of time and you can use the settings on the driver to have it get close to the newton you want and get the real wrench on it for being sure.  And the bugger is compact so it will get inside some mighty tight places.

I have loved my gear wrenches for many a year.  Got some when they first came out and haven't used the ratchet much anymore.  No more double knuckles with two extensions to get at a bolt you can plainly see just that it has a lot of stuff in the way.

I broke my 14, but the bolt broke off too, and I was braced against the car and pushing with both feet.

I have the Milwaukee 18Vs.  A word of caution, if you use them on stuff  too big n stuck, you can break a hex off inside the chuck, then everything sucks.

I still have the old style 18 vdc Milwaukee too, my son decided I needed an upgrade to that big ole beast.  It does get tough to use all day long on a sheet rock job my wrist doesn't hold it up well after about 3 PM.  Then I am worn out and can't lift a bottle at the end of the day either.

So he brought home three different kits, I didn't like the cheapness of the newer Milwaukee stuff.  All flash and power looking but the operation was so so compared to the Bosch so I went with it.  Didn't try the Yellow stuff because he didn't buy one to try.  Quite the present to open.  One box three drill driver kits.  And him spouting from across the room, you can only keep one of those.  Dang.
