My heater blower is acting up, squealing humming and loud . I have an 82 Rabbit with AC, but the AC isn't in working condition and not likely to fix it.
I guess my questions would be:
1) can these be rebuilt/serviced?
2) I can find the non AC blowers fairly cheap, will these work?
3)I also only have one speed on the fan, high. Where is the relay that controls the speed?
4)Anyone have a good blower for sale?
Should be able to take it apart as it went together once upon a time. Small bearings can be had at motor repair places or on line. Bearings have numbers on them and you can cross reference them and buy another set. Insert, hope it goes together like it came apart and install. Or apply voltage prior to install and see if it goes.
My MK1 has a resistor up by the blower that controls the speed. Switch on dash sends voltage to resistor and less or more passes through it and the motor goes round fast or slow depending on final net voltage. Your system may vary.
That is what I can offer.
has bushings not bearings stock... also the brushes and communtator wear out.. so sorry no rebuild... when these start to fail they over load the resistor/goofy westy thing they have... burns it up and only high speed..
look up cabby till 92 for ac blower..
ac vs no ac different.. cannot swap
If the fan isn't flopping you can probably spray the bushings with something to get rid of the noise.
Not much to them, they come apart pretty easy once you get them out.
Seems like an electrical shop could rebuild them.
Relay for high speed is screwed to the drivers side of the air box,.. if there is one.
