#1 fuel injector return leak
« on: August 02, 2004, 04:55:38 am »
The #1 fuel injector is leaking, I replaced the return lines and it is still leaking. It looks like that the return line is cracked at the base of the nipple so the hose will not stop that.  Can that be replaced?  Can I just get another injector?  I'm under the impression you don't want to just change out one injector due to it's crack pressure being different from the rest since it is a new or rebuilt injector.

Would it be possible to put a cost of RTV around the return line to seal it up? Don't want to mess anything up but if it will stop the leak. Not much pressure at that point is there?

Thanks

Hey Rat407

if u go to your local fuel shop yes they can replace just the nipple or
u can ask them to replace the body with another one u might have
have 2nd hand.

when was the last time u replace your nozzles or got them checked for
opening pressure last?

#1 fuel injector return leak

I bought the car used this past March and right after I got it home I rebuilt the engine. It is running great, just that one injector leak. I didn't have the injectors tested. I probably should have but it just runs great to me.  There is a shop here about an hour away that would check them and rebuild them for $15 US dollars an injector plus parts. I told him I could still get rebuild ones for around $45 and he told me that would be the better route in his mind, for at least one set and have a rotating pool to take from if needed.

Do you think I really need to get them checked? It runs fine, just that one leak. Can I install a new rebuilt one or do all of them have to be done at the same time?

Thanks

You can replace just one. They are not matched set.
