Blown head gasket on my 91 Jetta NA diesel
« on: October 15, 2012, 02:04:19 pm »
I've been anticipating some major work on this car because it's been consuming oil at an atrocious rate.  Now, with the blown HG, I have a second reason to tear into it.  This will be my first endeavor into semi-major engine work on the diesel so I'll be in need of some good references, the appropriate tools and parts.  Please let me know where I should be looking.  Thanks.

you NEED (absolutely 100% need) a bentley manual for your car.. it has torque specs on everything, and tells you the right way to take everything apart and put it back together..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.
